The next 30 days -- 33 days if you care to be technical -- are going to be a blast in Port Coquitlam as dance and music schools bring in the summer at Terry Fox Theatre. We've got several fantastic year-end recitals, another fabulous visit by kid-favourites Lisa and Linda (Tiny Tots), and even a magical, juggling-filled variety show that will leave you giggling.
Is the Tri-Cities ready for this much fun and culture? Of course! Get the details below.
Dance Shows & Recitals
Showtime 2011 - Stage 1 Dance Centre features everything from ballet, jazz, and modern dance, to acro and hip hop. They even do preschool dance classes, which is an array of cuteness unto itself. See what they have to offer in the next month with two excellent shows at the end of May, here in (hopefully sunny) Port Coquitlam.
Showcase 2011 - The danceLAB has trained some of BC's best dancers, with several of their students going on to prestigious schools and programs around North America, as well as winning titles in the BC Performing Arts Provincial Championship. On Tuesday, June 14th, you have a chance to see them in all their glory, right here in Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Theatre.
K&S Dance 20th Anniversary Recital - K&S Dance teaches everything from baby ballet to acro, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre -- and has been one of the Port Coquitlam's premiere dance schools for 20 years. We had the pleasure of their students on our stage for their September 2010 Preview show, and now you can celebrate their anniversary with us as well, starting on Thursday, June 16th through Saturday June 17th.
The Present is Now the Past - C.A.P.A. Dance and Drama schools of Port Moody and Coquitlam are dedicated to the fundamentals of integrity, commitment, creativity, and opportunity. Join them for their year-end show at Terry Fox Theatre in Port Coquitlam on the 23rd through 25th of June.
Place des Arts Year End Dance Recital - Being a non-profit theatre, we have an appreciation for other non-profits in the performing arts. One such is Coquitlam music school and arts centre Place des Arts. Come check out their ballet and hip hop year-end recitals on Sunday June 26th.
Musical Performances
Music Through the Years - The music department for Port Coquitlam's Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School is presenting their juniors and seniors in concert on Tuesday and Wednesday May 24th-25th. That's tonight and tomorrow night, so get your tickets now and enjoy music through the years!
Musical Rainbow Recital - Mr. I has been teaching music to and entertaining 3-9 year olds for more than 30 years. Get a blast of adorable wonder as you watch Mr. I's Musical Rainbow students perform at Terry Fox Theatre on June 19th (also presented by Place des Arts). We're sure you'll love it -- how could you not?
Variety Shows & the Return of Tiny Tots
Sensations - Caulfield School of Dance, an award-winning performing arts school in Port Moody, graces the stage of Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Theatre with a celebration of the five senses. Featuring dance, theatre, song, and special guests, you'll want to mark your calendar for the weekend of June 3rd, 4th, and 5th -- see you there!
The VA"RIDE"ITY Show - Like magic? How about juggling? Laughing, maybe? Of course you do! So come on down to Terry Fox Theatre on Friday, June 10th and get your giggle on. It's a win-win: you get to laugh and support the BC Cancer Foundation at the same time!
Tiny Tots: Melodies from the New World - Lisa and Linda return to the Theatre to entertain (and educate) the little ones of Greater Vancouver's Tri-Cities area. This is the fourth Tiny Tots show in Port Coquitlam in the past year, and we hope that TELUS and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will bring us more of the same in the coming year and the years to come! Introduce your kids to the beauty of classical music (Dvorak, in this round) on Saturday, June 11th.
As you can see, the last month before the summer season is action packed! Don't miss out -- head over to our Show Listings, pick your favourites and come on down!
