Continuing in our quest to provide a most excellent resource for all things theatre and the performing arts, we present our latest Blog Profile: the Playwrights Foundation Blog. The Playwrights Foundation is a US organization that offers support in "the inception and development of new plays." Their programs are, unfortunately, for US-based playwrights, but the information on their blog is open to all -- and is often surprisingly funny and all 'round entertaining to read.
While the Playwrights Foundation Blog is not the how-to resource one might hope for, it is a fantastic depository of musings, experiences, and anecdotes from the minds and lives of many, many playwrights; many of whom are also instructors. It is also home to several years worth of interviews with playwrights that are/were up and coming and well-established, both. There is much to be gained from reading between the lines of the posts, not the least of which is inspiration.
Here are some examples of some of their posts:
Another useful aspect of the Playwrights Foundation Blog is the list of blog and resource links down the right side of the pages. It is not up to date, unfortunately, so there are several links that lead to sites that no longer exist, but there are definitely a few gems in there, such as JC Lee, Culturebot, and NY One Minute Play Festival.
The Playwrights Foundation Blog is updated somewhat sporadically, but is fairly current. Check in on it once in a while, or subscribe/follow (it's a Blogger blog) for updates.
Let us know your thoughts on the Playwrights Foundation Blog. Have suggestions for other Playwright blogs? Let us know that too! We are always interested in expanding our resource list.
