If You Like Glee, Christmas or Anything Broadway -- This Weekend is Your Friend

Broadway, Glee at Terry Fox Theatre, Port Coquitlam, Dec 2010If you're a fan of the hit TV show, Glee, or like seeing kids perform showtunes, you'll want to come visit Terry Fox Theatre this weekend. We've got two great shows lined up, one of which will blow your socks off with Glee-style performances of "Don't Stop Believing", "Lean On Me", the "Halo/Walking On Sunshine" mashup, and more, and the other will have you dancing in your seat to a costume-filled variety show. Picture that, some kids, a little bit of Broadway, and a lot of Christmas mixed in and you've got yourself an exciting, fun musical weekend that makes for great holiday outings for all ages.

You heard it here, first -- Port Coquitlam's got all the fun this Christmas!

A Very Glee Christmas is the third annual December Showcase by Maple Ridge's musical theatre school, Showstoppers Academy. Showstoppers specializes in three things: excellence, kids aged 5-21, and musical theatre. They teach kids in a fun and constructive environment, training them in dance, voice and acting. The school was created by Ashleigh McAuley, who has been involved in musical theatre, herself, since the tender age of nine. She's a perfect example of what we were trying to convey in last week's post on why kid's need the performing arts. We're happy to see her passing on her experiences and the benefits of theatre to up and coming generations.

A Very Glee Christmas is this Friday evening at Terry Fox Theatre in Port Coquitlam. The last two years, this show has sold out in a hurry, so don't wait!

If you absolutely have to miss A Very Glee Christmas and are heartbroken by the prospect of missing little kids singing show tunes, don't fret! Like we said in the intro, there, come on down to Terry Fox Theatre for Broadway Bound's A Retro Christmas this Sunday evening, December 12th. Can you say old fashioned variety show?

Broadway Bound Performing Arts Studio is another excellent musical theatre training school for kids, this one located right here in PoCo. Kimberly Page is owner/director, has been performing since age 12, and has been running her successful business since 2005. I'm sensing another plug for last week's article, here.

This weekend is going to be fun. Hope to see you there!

What shows are on your list this Christmas?
